“CALL FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS”
Link to Volunteers Page for more detailed information on jobs which can be done
If you have been a member for some time and have not yet become active, or are a potential new member interested in doing something at the railway -
The best way to get to know more is to arrive on the platform at Llangollen Station after 10:00 am and just talk to people. We are a friendly bunch and any form of help is welcome.
There is time to get involved, learn the ropes, get that all-
We look forward to meeting you -

6880 News -
Despite the ice cold of the shed we got stuck in, first job was a book sort out as we have just acquired over 300 + books for the sales and promo stand. Then we unloaded my poor car which seems to be putting up well with various bit of metal for 6880 being loaded in and out of it .
First out was the new cab steps from Anglering and a nice job they are too! Then the top front pressed steel stretcher followed by the bottom front cast steel stretcher
We trial fitted the Pressed stretcher and are pleased with the fit
On the Sunday we held the Steam Steel and Stars II Gala meeting. Present were myself, Quentin, Ashley, Fred and Jon Kerr. Philip, Pete and Kate and, all the way from London, Ben who was the representative from National Preservation Forum
Much was discussed and many ideas were worked through the result being a big list of action points to attend to but progress is being made.
Back at the shed Steve turned up so we got stuck into some work. We weighed up fitting the steps but declined to drill any holes due to fading light and unclear dimensions. Steve made lots of sparks by removing some unwanted rivets
On the promotional front Mick, Mark and Barry handed out 750 leaflets at Wigan Model Railway Exhibtion. Thanks guys
We have just over 30.000 leaflets left out of 60.000 so please dont stop promoting the gala, spread the word, raise the awareness etc ‘
Futher news
The next trip to the NRM is scheduled for the 24th 25th Jan 2009 lets hope it reveals more of its secrets
Being copied for us right now is the Cylinder drawings and the much needed Frame and Erecting plans
I have nearly finished welding all the brackets for the outriggers, they should be ready for machining before Christmas
The order for the bolts for holding on the Brake hangar Brackets is about to be placed
We now have the Microfishes for some of the drawings we acquired from the GWS, we are looking to get better copies so if you know where it can be done please tell me
That’s all for now. Regards Will
